Radiah Mallard is a wife, mother, and Soldier. She is very involved in the life of all of her children, but particularly her autistic teenage son Elijah who is non verbal and has severe developmental delays. She believes that all children with special needs, no matter how detrimental, have a voice and a mind.
“Never underestimate a special needs child. No matter what condition they are in, they still have the same abilities as a child within normal range. Don’t speak to them like they are handicapped. Give them limitations. Correct them when they are doing something inappropriate. Challenge them and address them as you would any other child. They will rise to the challenge.”
