Although my kids treat me like some kind of creative genius, I’m really not that creative. I guess that’s why simple solutions, and especially sharing them with you, are so important to me. I don’t know what’s going on with Kaitlyn lately, but she really thinks I can make anything. She keeps asking me to make extravagant treats and desserts that look like her favorite animals, cartoons, and super heroes. I just look at her and ask, “does it have cheese? If it has cheese, count me in! I can make anything if it has cheese.” Of course, this is not entirely true. The whole cheese thing has been my get-out-of-jail-free-card. At least, that’s what I thought. This is why I should think twice, more often….

“Mommy! Mommy! Will you buy me the new Minions movie? And — Mommy, will you make me a minion with cheese? Please, Mommy?! a cheese minion?” Kaitlyn

What was I supposed to do? Tell her no? The girl wants a cheese minion; she’s going to get a cheese minion. Because she’s my baby me and my big mouth! The truth is, our entire family loved Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2. I’m just as excited about the newest movie, Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved. You knew that! The Minions movie Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack comes out on 12/8/2015, and can be pre-ordered it right now, HERE! This gave me time to brainstorm a solution for Kaitlyn’s special request. Actually, I was going to do something special anyway, because family movie nights are about making memories together. I want them to be fun and yummy!

Minion Cheese Spread Recipe Ingredients (Downloadable Recipe Below)

  • 6 ounces of blueberries
  • 2 8 ounce packs of cream cheese
  • 1 cup of finely shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of finely shredded monterey jack cheese

Mix together the remaining 8 ounces of cream cheese, all of the monterey cheese, and all of the cheddar cheese until well blended together. Add food coloring and mix until the color is consistent.

Create your minion body on top of parchment paper, using the yellow cheese spread mixture as shown in the pictures. While shaping your minion, the spread may smear on the parchment paper. After shaping the body, just flip the whole thing over onto your serving plate and remove the parchment paper.

Use the blueberry spread to spread on the clothing.

Add black color for the hair, hands, and feet. (Because Kaitlyn begged, we used FROSTING in these pictures. When our movie arrives, we’ll use the RESERVED 2 ounces of cream cheese, mixed with black food coloring to create this!) Trust me – do it THIS way!Minions Cheese Spread Recipe-7

Create a circle for the large eye with some of the reserved cream cheese. Outline the eye in black, draw the goggles, and a mouth.

Finished Minion Cheese Spread Recipe

We used the remaining blueberry spread for bagels in the  morning. We are SO ready for our #MinionsMovieNight. This was so easy and fun to whip up. I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, one tiny thing – the frosting. I just wasn’t going to break Kailtyn’s little heart. She wanted to try it that way, and we did. She liked mommy’s way better. Such a smart girl!

That’s the cutest use for cheese I’ve ever seen, Alicia! Way to be amazing and creative!

  2. How much fun is that? I love the idea of making a blueberry cream cheese and changing the flavor of your typical cheese spread. I bet your daughter is dreaming up something awesome in cheese for tomorrow, too! #client
