Food is big part of Hispanic and Italian culture. I’m Puerto Rican and Sicilian, married to a Mexican, so you can guess how important food is to my whole family. I ate a lot of take-out before I had children. I could afford to do it back then, so I endulged. I’ve always loved food. Aside from the obvious reasons, like, we have to eat; I love the beauty of colorful plates and how a great meal brings people together. I don’t really know when I learned how to cook, but I’m so glad I did. I love a good pasta recipe and I’ve created quite a few. I don’t mind making a 12-hour lasagna, but honestly – who has time for that? Back-to-school did not give me all the time and freedom I was expecting it would. I’m still rushing against the clock and desperate to get the kids dinner before soccer practices, homework, and showers. I haven’t made a good pasta dish since Summer ended. I’ve always wished there was a pasta I could just throw in the pan and cook to perfection without all the added hassle of boiling water and draining. It doesn’t seem like that much, but sometimes I really don’t have the time. Sometimes, I really need a delicious dinner I can cook on high heat, in 10 minutes, using a single pan, and no mess behind! Then, I found this new innovative Barilla® Pronto™ pasta in Walmart and almost cleared the shelves!
By the time I got home, it was almost time to pick the kids up from school again. I wanted to see if I could really whip up a fabulous dinner in 10. I wowed the kids and they I’d been cooking all day. Ha ha ha! I didnt even have to prep anything. I had some veggies ready to go and I also picked up some Tyson® Grilled and Ready® chicken strips while I was at the store. I’d never tried them before and I was shocked by how tasty and tender they were. Really, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised! Grilled and Ready Chicken Breast Strips provide a high protein meal solution. My family is very active, so I make sure to give everyone enough protein. Plus, the strips heat up so quickly. Anyone can cook this healthy, nutritious meal for themselves or for their family. You know how much that means to me. It’s better for my family. I’m so happy to be able to share these Simple Solutions for Complicated Lives!
Mess-Free & Stress Free Pasta Recipe
My favorite part about this recipe is that it can all be eaten together as one main dish, or you can serve each part a la carte. Personally, I set everything aside, a la carte style, in glass bowls with lids so I can go directly from table to fridge to avoid any cleanup time! I served everything together on plates as a main course.
Ingredients:
- 12oz of Barilla® Pronto™ Spaghetti
- 22oz of Tyson® Grilled & Ready® Chicken Breast Strips
- 8oz of Asparagus
- 8 oz of baby-cut Carrots
- 8oz of Sugar Snap Peas
- 8oz of Spinach
- 1 cup of finely shredded Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Red Onion
- 2 Cloves of Garlic
- 1/2 cup of Heavy Cream
- Olive Oil
- Salt (to taste)
- Dried Sweet Basil (to taste)
- Dried Crushed Red Peppers (to taste)
- Cashews (optional)
Done in Ten!
Generously coat the bottom of a large (deep) skillet with olive oil. Add all the vegetables, except the asparagus and spinach. Lightly saute and mix ingredients. Toss in the spinach and allow to wilt. (Don’t overcook) Set this combo aside. Lightly saute the asparagus and set aside with the rest of the vegetable medley.
Heat the Tyson® Grilled and Ready® chicken strips. When almost heated, push to one side of your pan and add in some cashews to taste. Mix together and set aside.
In the same skillet, add a little more olive oil and saute the garlic for about 30 seconds. Add the heavy cream, parmesan, dried sweet basil, crushed red peppers, and salt to taste. Whisk ingredients rapidly on high heat. Add the spaghetti. (Don’t worry!) Add three cups of cold water. Make sure the spagetti is covered in water. Continue cooking on high and stirring until the water (and light sauce) is gone. Serve together with the vegetable medley and chicken strips. Delious. Done!
