I’m just being honest. I do most of the parenting work. My husband works outside of the home, full-time. So, he’s never short on excuses for why he can’t help with the hard parenting, chores, and especially bath time, cooking, or laundry. Over the years, he did not get better at helping out. Just ask him! Now he does things like make eggs, on a very rare weekend, make empty promises to help with the laundry, and make sure the vehicles always get an oil change, on time. He takes great pride in his manly duties and developing domestic skills. Moms! Seriously, the only thing developing is his imagination! Let me set the record straight. I taught him how to change the oil in the car. Me! I’m the one who put my Camaro up on ramps, slid my used-to-be slim body under the car, removed the filter, drained the oil, and schooled him in Mechanics 101! I’m the one who encouraged him, researched, and administrated the process for him to get his Class A Drivers License. He’s spoiled. He does have those days when he works a 13-hour shift, only to come home and walk right back out the door in his role of teen taxi driver. Drop offs and pick ups at soccer practice, gas up the car, pick up milk on the way home, eat, shower, sleep. On those days, I don’t give him such a hard time. Right now though, we need to get it together. We have to move, the kids have a ton of events coming up, and my van is falling apart on the outside. The driver’s side handle is about to fall off. The passenger side motorized sliding door doesn’t open automatically or even manually from the outside anymore, and the handle fell off completely! I have to open the passenger door, reach into the back, and open the sliding door from the inside. The driver’s side sliding door doesn’t open at all anymore. Both the driver and passenger’s windows no longer roll down.
Still, my van has come through for me! I don’t know what we would have done with my 5 seat BMV and all these kids. It had to go. It’s still hard to believe I drive a mini-van, but it keeps up with my big family and we are always on-the-go. So, it’s very important to me that the engine keeps running well. Regular oil changes with Pennzoil makes a big difference. All Pennzoil products help clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind. Pennzoil is designed for complete protection and will allow you to drive an extra of 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine. No other motor oil provides better protection from friction.
I’m glad my husband cares about keeping the engines well oiled with Pennzoil. I just hate that he pretends it takes all day. So, the other day when my husband mentioned that he planned to take his car for an oil change on Saturday, it was the last straw. Oh no he wouldn’t go wasting an entire Saturday with the lame excuse that he took the car to the shop. We don’t have time for that right now. Do you think I should let loose on him? No. That’s not a solution. Instead, I was sweet and generous. I took his car to Walmart for a few things yesterday. Well, since I was there, I got an oil change for his car, too! Oh no. What ever will he do on Saturday? Yea. They call me, MOM! I #DropShopAndOil. I may not be sliding under the car anymore, but I’m still schooling my husband!
I also used to be the best at driving correctly onto the oil change area. Not your favorite thing? No worries! The awesome pit crew at the Tire and Lube center do that for you.
Just behind this door below, is my Walmart! It opens right into the automotive part of the store, and there is a service desk right there. Drop off the keys. Shop. I wasn’t even done shopping by the time my car was ready. It was fast and the pit crew knew exactly what oil to use. Still, they made sure to ask me and offered to answer any questions. I used, High Mileage Vehicle. (goldish/brown bottle – Helps to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines. It’s a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, to help keep the engines running clean and going strong for a long time.) If you are unsure what oil you vehicle requires, please consult the Automotive Care Center Manager or specialist.
You’re covered! Walmart has a Customer Pledge and Pennzoil even has a Warranty. Did you know that? Yep!
- Pennzoil Warranty: Pennzoil also offers a free warranty that covers 15 engine parts that may fail due to engine wear or which experience abnormal wear due to friction. (For more information, check out the Pennzoil Warranty Site.)
- Ibotta Offer: If you like to change your own oil, checkout the current promotion from Ibotta (a free mobile savings app) $5 off one 5-quart bottle of Pennzoil Platinum with PurePlus Technology. https://ibotta.com/rebates?q=pennzoil
I called my husband’s bluff! Getting an oil change doesn’t take all Saturday! Neither does putting on tires. That’s a good thing, too. Tomorrow is Saturday. Look what just happened to my van! I think my husband can get new tires and help with the laundry, tomorrow! Thank goodness for Walmart, Pennzoil, and #SimpleSolutions. You can also keep up with Pennzoil on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, & Google+.
