During the Holiday season, I don’t give lavish gifts that cost more than I can afford. I limit my spending to the amount I’ve outlined in my budget. Luckily, I have an excess of joy that I try to
share with those around me. I’ve had some amazing and extremely difficult times in life. Both extremes have made me a person who appreciates what I have, and especially the people I have in my life. My peopleare gente humilde. They are selfless and grateful. The best gift they’ve ever given me is that place in their hearts, where they keep me. We’re a very close family.
Food is also an important and obviously savory part of Latino culture. For years, every time I walked into my mother-in-law’s kitchen, I felt like I’d walked into a kitchen smack in the middle of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Her kitchen always smelled like Mexico. Meals and the scents of her authentic dishes were how we bonded. Almost 20 years ago, our communication was limited to facial and hand expressions while we shared a meal together. Back then I could barely speak Spanish! Me encanta! Me llena de alegria! I know it’s cliché, but I wouldn’t trade my happiness for all the money in the world. For me, happiness is family and the opportunity to convivir con ellos, especially during the Holidays!
I want this year to be extra special. I want to show them how grateful I am for our family. I’d rather have one slice of cake to share with 10 of my family members than an entire cake with no one to share it with. I have two surprises for them! First, I’m going to fill every room with a different product from the Glade® Winter Collection, so they feel like they are on a fragrance inspired journey as they walk through the house. Second, I’m going to make tamales. This is kind of a big deal, because I’ve never made them before! Be sure to get your Glade® COUPON, HERE! It’s time to Spread Cheer™
I turned my bathroom into an Amber & Bergamot paradise. The Glade® Spread Cheer™ fragrance is a Target Exclusive. It’s all about letting your inner light shine! Also, if I had to pick a favorite Collection, this is the one! In addition, I used the jar candle, PlugIns Scented Oils, and the Premium Room Spray. This scent is the perfect way to start my day.
Cherish the Present™
The Glade® Cherish the Present™ fragrance is Apple Cinnamon. It’s all about giving thanks for the warmth and love of the season. The dining room is the perfect place to fill with this classic!
I’m still deciding where to use the Send a Little Love™ Vanilla Biscotti to send sweet sentiments. Then there is Be at Peace™, Balsam Fir & Juniper to take a moment to reflect on the love and serenity all around. Lastly, I have Share the Spirit™, Pomegranate Sparkler to revel in a bright and spirited holiday celebration, which is the theme of our Holiday gatherings this year!
So, I made a bright and spirited table centerpiece with decorative chair bows to add a personal touch to the festivities. Staying humble is important to me, so I used what I had on hand. Well, I had corn husks!
The CENTERPIECE was super easy to make! I used corn husks, tape, scissors, glitter glue, a foam circle, and a pine cone.
Fold a corn husk in half
The tapered end should be folded to the inside.
Pinch the ends together and tape the tapered side to the center of your circle foam. Continue taping the folded corn husks at the center, adding one next to the other until your circle is complete. Fold a single into thirds and attach it to the center to cover any tape that might be visible. Then attach your pine cone to the center.
Add Glitter glue in holiday colors to random tips of your pine cone. Let dry.
THE BOW
Twist a single corn husks tightly from one end to the other. Use that as a tie, to attach two folded corn husks together at the center. The tapered ends meet at the center. Attach to the backs of your chairs.
What a nice idea using the corn husks that brings me so many good memories from Mexico. Thanks for participating in this shop #client
