I’ve been at this “Soccer Mom” thing for a long time!
It’s been about 11 years now and there is no end in sight. If you’ve been following along here, you know it all started with Antonio, then Pedro, and now the triplets are kicking around the ball like Soccer is all they’ve ever dreamed of doing. When I first began the Fútbol journey, which inevitably became a lifestyle, I was always worried about keeping Antonio hydrated.
Antonio tried playing soccer with Pedro as soon as he could crawl. Antonio lived soccer, just like he does today. It makes sense that Pedro would have his first trophy by the time he was four!

I used to make Antonio drink a lot before his game.
Then, I made him drink a lot during half-time, and a lot after the game, too. So, we both learned the hard way that there is such a thing as too much to drink at game time. You don’t want to be the mom with the star kicker who always has to go potty! You don’t want to be the mom who sends her child out to play with their tummy swooshing around a gallon of refreshment as they sprint across the field. Soccer is serious business. You can be booed right off the sideline or you can be the #sidelinehero! That’s why I love the GAME12PACK from Powerade®! 12 bottles of 12 ounces each, is the perfect amount of half-time refreshment! Of course, Powerade® should be paired with some fresh fruit as the perfect pick-me-up to refresh their energy during half-time!
I use the power of Powerade® to give a boost to their Powershot!
Powerade® does not contain fruit juice.
My little boys like soccer too, but it’s Kaitlyn showing her girl-power on the field. For Christmas, she wants soccer everything. For her Birthday, she wants her own soccer team. Here’s to another decade and keeping Powered Up!
Kick like a girl!
I’ve always been a mom of boys. It’s a rough job sometimes. Of course, in Soccer, you develop and are always growing an extended family. You support each other and learn from each other. I’m so grateful for that because in the last decade of being the #sidelinehero, Team Mom, and even the Team Manager, I’ve only ever been involved with boys teams. I’ve been learning more about girl-power in Soccer, especially from local league legend, Sam! She packs serious power in every shot and has made even the toughest boy competitors want to kick like a girl! I’m so glad that Kaitlyn has a girl like Sam to look up to as she enters her life of Soccer. Sam is our hero!
The Team Mom has to stay hydrated too, for the many years ahead of being their #sidelinehero! It’s a lifestyle! With at least another decade of soccer ahead of me, I have to keep up my own energy up. I love being the #sideline hero. It helps me stay looking and feeling young! We have to keep our eyes wide open because the years fly by! Be in the moment.
You can find the GAME12PACK from Powerade®! and an assortment of fresh fruit at your local Walmart! Be the #sidelinehero! Don’t skip out on either! Over and over, throughout the years, I’ve seen half-time snack-time be the game changer! I’ve seen my kids’ teams go from 5, 6, 7, even 8 to 0 and come back for the win! A boost of energy, moral support, and motivation does amazing things.
What are your tips for keeping up with the game?
By: Alicia Gonzalez
Yep, I’m a Soccer Mom too, so I’m loving all these hydration tips! We also make sure our little one goes to bed early the night before a big game- our soccer stars need their rest!
Yes, Lynda! When Antonio was younger though, he use to be so excited the night before a game he could barely sleep.
It’s great that Kaitlyn is taking an interest in her brother’s sporting- being active is a must for the youth of today, who can get so distracted by tech! It’s nice that Powerade hopes keep your entire family fueled, I can see it’s also a big part of some major memories!
Jenna, it’s true! So many of our memories revolve around soccer! It looks like Kaitlyn will get her own uniform (hopefully) for Christmas and being starting in her own Team in March. She is so ready!
Keep our kids hydrated during these outdoor activities is a MUST. It keeps them focused, energized and ready to go! Thanks for the greta tips!
