Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s a time of family bonding and creating memories that last. It’s such a happy time for most people, and seeing that joy in others makes me cheerful. I just can’t stop smiling all day. I do it so much, my face hurts! It’s also the time of year when I run marathon after marathon. I don’t mean those marathons where your feet have to move until you’re looking back at 26.2 miles. I’m talking about my long-running Christmas tradition of marathon TV and movie watching. I love Christmas movies. I love the crisp air, marshmallows, cocoa, a blanket, and cuddling up on the coach with all of my kids. When I’m not cooking, this pretty much sums up my December. It’s more than a time for family movie night. It’s family movie month! Of course, I’ve been making lots of our favorite yummy snacks.
The other day, I found out that my sixteen-year-old son, Antonio, has never seen the movie Back to the Future. He had no idea what I was even talking about! When I yell out lines from I Love Lucy and try to cry like her, he has no reaction. My Lucy impersonation is hilarious! Okay, so maybe he’s heard of something a little hipper, like 90210, or Moesha, or Sister, Sister, or Saved By the Bell, or Dawson’s Creek! No. He just gives me that blank stare! Did I stare back at him blankly when he couldn’t get enough of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody? Of course, not! I got totally into the show, because he enjoyed watching it so much. It’s okay, though. Now we have some shows he’s never seen, to watch together! There’s nothing better than watching an 80’s or 90’s show with my teen and hearing him gasp as he shouts out, “did they really wear that?!”
Just when I thought my December marathon couldn’t get any better, I had the chance to check out the XFINITY® X1 Entertainment Operating System® up close and personal. I was impressed!
I’m really excited about all of the features.
If I had to pick my top favorites, they’d be:
- Voice Remote (The remote understands English and follows your instructions!)
- With so much more space on DVR, you can record up to 6 shows at once!
- If you’re a few minutes, (or most of the minutes) late into the show, you can restart the show from the beginning.
- With the Cloud DVR, you can stream from anywhere and even download to your device for offline viewing.
- Make memories together with the people who can’t be there with you. The Share app lets you live stream to other devices and even big screens so that your loved ones can share each special moments with you, live! NOW YOU CAN spend Christmas, TOGETHER!
- KidsZone is definitely a favorite feature! This is a peace-of-mind feature. Whether you have to take an important phone call, get dinner started, or jump in the shower, KidsZone keeps your kids on parent-approved channels.
Also, everything is on the main menu, including all of your saved programs. The Guide shows up to two weeks of shows, so you can plan out all your quality time and recording. On Demand now has poster art so you don’t have to go through folders to find what you want. You can even see the last nine things that you watched. If you decide to marathon-watch, you won’t get sent back to the main menu after each episode. The next episode will automatically load and play.
X1 is sleek and easy to use. It gives you one-click access to your entertainment options. You can use any device to access your favorite shows, movies and content. You can even set up a series recording through your smartphone, sync your personal calendar with your DVR’d programs, and get recommendations for programming you’ll want to watch On Demand — and the list goes on!
Check out the XFINITY® X1 Entertainment Operating System® and ask for a demo in your local store! When I got my demo, the customer service experience was exceptional! There’s nothing worse than trying to get information from someone who can’t answer your questions. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the product. Not only were all my questions answered, staff even checked my other services and to make sure I was getting the best prices.
What would be your favorite XFINITY® X1 Entertainment Operating System® feature? Share in the comments! I know. It’s hard to choose!
